Why – Why did I do it? To place boundaries in my life, to test out my self-control, to discipline myself, to draw closer to God
What – What was the purpose? – Religious and personal reasons
Who – Who was it for? It was for myself! Nobody else was doing it with me.
When- When did I do it? The middle of February and April 2nd was my last day
Where- Where did I do it? – Wherever I went. While eating out, I always got the vegetarian options or got a salad. At home, I gave away all the meat I had and literally went to the store and bought a ton of vegetables and fruits. I invested in some yummy vegan protein shake powder (Vega-One), and when I had a taste for meat, I tried this awesome vegan brand called Gardein (can be found at Krogers or Wal-Mart). They have like meatless meatballs, meatless hot wings, meatless chicken nuggets… etc.. It’s fascinating because their products taste similar to meat, but are made from soy products & other natural ingredients. I can’t speak for all vegan-vegetarian brands, but Gardein is KOSHER!
How - How did I do it? Putting my mind to it and praying about it first/throughout the little over 40 days. I actually considered becoming a vegetarian during this process. Who knows what later this year may bring or even next year.
Last words- While going without meat, I did lose a lot of weight. ATTENTION: if anybody wants to lose weight fast (like SUPER FAST), stop eating meat and fried foods. I promise you (make sure you find a healthy protein alternative though). The weight feel off too too quick. I went from a size 5 to a size 1. I can also fit a size 0 smh (but I still look healthy and fit) It was weird not being able to fit any of my pants or having extra baggy space. BUT!!!!!...... don’t get caught up, I was NOT doing it to lose weight. Overall, my goal was accomplished. If you forgot my goal, re-read my WHY above. I challenge you all to fast away without something for a while.... also take my poll below!
God bless! You're awesome =)
